Nutraceuticals – Trending 2025
Nutraceuticals get its name by joining “nutrients” and “pharmaceuticals” together, however these products are made with nutrients from natural foods concentrated in therapeutic doses without manmade chemicals being involved. Essentially, they are powerful food-derived biomolecules, when used along with the right identification of a health issue and application, that are capable of switching on, or turning up certain genes associated with our cellular health. Therefore, showing great promise in the areas of antioxidant defences, cell proliferation, gene expression, and the protection of mitochondrial integrity.
These differ from your normal supplements on store shelves; nutraceuticals need to be distributed by a registered practitioner who has assessed the person and made sure they are giving them the right product for their health concerns. As everyone is different and will react differently to different health interventions, we can’t promise anything, however, nutraceuticals may be used to improve health, delay or prevent the onset of chronic diseases, slow the aging process, or just support the functions, vitality, and integrity of the body.
We all know that broccoli is healthy and contains phytonutrients that help to ward off many diseases, some as harsh as cancer. However, we can’t physically eat the amount of broccoli needed to get the right amount of those nutrients to therapeutically withstand the genetic mutations of cancer in a cell. But what if we could take the medicinal biomolecules (like Sulforaphane in broccoli), put the doses in a capsule form and have something we can take?
Studies have shown therapeutic doses of Sulforaphane have the ability to “turn down” NF-kb gene expression (the gene which is responsible for initiating the inflammatory processes), to reduce the tendency for inflammation, and “turn up” Nrf2 which has the ability to switch on a cell’s own defence mechanism, to help cells protect themselves. Thereby, providing a powerful tool to fight against disease. Nrf2 alone has the ability to activate around 200 different genes, all of which hold the DNA code for the many different aspects of cellular defence. *
